a brief history
Fireart Studios was started in the summer of 2004 by Matthew Riley and Nigel Adie. They first met and subsequently became friends whilst working as two of the only three fine artists in Wedgwoods' Prestige Ceramics Department at the headquarters based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.
In this department, they produce high profile sporting trophies with hand painted scenes and portraits, that are competed for at many major international events, as well as high calibre one-off pieces for all of the worlds collectible markets, especially Japan.
Having worked closely together in such a highly skilled environment, they discussed the idea of teaming up their talents and designs to produce their own distinctive and highly artistic visions of a new ceramic style.
Brimming with ideas, they developed an airbrushing technique and using the ever changing and breathtakingly beautiful skies to inspire their initial designs, the first wave of fireart studios ceramics was created.
In the heart of the Potteries...they began to Fire Art.
